The second monthly draw in Askamore Community Council’s fundraising was made on Saturday night last.

The first monthly draw was made last night in Askamore Community Council’s fundraising.
The winner of the monthly €100 is Askamore Foróige, our local youth club.

Tonight is the first draw in the latest Askamore Community Council fundraising venture. This will take place in the Activity Centre at 8.30 pm. Names will go into the hat tonight and the final Saturday of every month for €100.
Locals and organisations in the community have been signing up to the Community Council’s fundraiser.
There is still time to sign up and show your commitment to your local community – and have the possibility of winning €100 monthly (in December there are bonus draws of 4 x €250). Contact any of the Community Council members before tonight’s draw to be in with a chance to win.
Askamore Community Council sincerely thanks all those who have and continue to help the local community in so many different ways.
This committee set out two years ago to raise €50,000 to pay for the the soon to be refurbished 2nd squash court, and to turn it into an activity room downstairs, with a meeting room upstairs.
It was decided to approach all adults locally, and ask then to commit to a payment of €240 over the next 2 years. Over 170 committed, with some paying the amount upfront, some in installments, and others agreeing to set up direct debits to the Refurbishment committee.
To encourage people to commit to this fund, there was an initial prize of a weekend away in Ireland, and this was won in August 2009 by Bridget Keane of Munny.
As a final thank-you to people who pay up the full €240, there is a prize of €1000. The final direct debit will be paid in November this year, and all the names will then go into the draw for the €1000.
