Major Campaign to stop Gorey Gárda Station being downgraded

A major campaign is underway to stop Gorey Garda Station from being downgraded.

A number of meetings have been held, a committee has been set up and there will be a public meeting for everyone in Gorey district, which takes in our area of Askamore / Kilrush. This is a single focus group – their only purpose is to stop the station being downgraded and already the committee has compiled some very interesting and disturbing statistics, which are attached to this post.

The public meeting takes place in the Ashdown Park Hotel next Monday night, February 25th @ 8 pm and it is hoped that there will be a large representation from all the Gorey Garda district area. Head of pop per member of police force Population stats 14 super districts Population stats neighbouring districts Population stats Wexford Division Total crime Wexford v Ireland

Stop Gorey Garda Station being downgraded

Rock/Ramsfort Park Community Alert committee have organised the following meeting tonight –

Please make every effort to come to the Rock Hall tonight @ 7:30pm

This is a very important issue for each of us, but we need your support and we need it now if we are going to make something happen
It’s easy to say ‘It’s a done deal’, or ask the question ‘What’s the point?’
If we don’t stand up for ourselves we will lose our Garda District

It’s going to take a bit of effort and a lot of public support to save our Garda District – but we can do it

Gorey has been a Garda district for 90 years, don’t let Shatter or Callinan take it away from us
Once our Garda District is gone, it’s gone

No more 24 hour station
No more local decision making on Garda patrols/involvement
An extra 35km for the Gardai to travel in an emergency at 3am in the morning
No local knowledge of your area (at 3am in the morning)
Less Gardai for Gorey
And all the time CRIME IS ON THE INCREASE

There is no rational reasoning behind this proposed downgrading

Alan Shatter says this won’t save any money, but that it will improve service – nonsense

It’s our money in taxes, don’t let it be spent somewhere else

Come to our meeting in The Rock Hall tonight at 7:30pm and hear the full story
