Open Forum on Education

An open Education Forum will be held in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy on Monday 27th May 2013 at 8pm.

The Panel of Speakers on the night are as follows :

  • Mr John Lonergan, Former Governor of Mountjoy Prison who will speak on the importance of Education.
  • Ms Averil Power, Fianna Fail Seanad Spokesperson on Education and Skills who will look at the reform of Education and the new Junior Certificate Syllabus.
  • Mr Joe Collins, Head of Lifelong Learning in Carlow I.T. who will deal with all aspects of disabilities and Primary Education.
  • Mr Pat Goff, Principal of Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts, Wexford who will deal with all aspects of disabilities and Primary Education.

Following the contribution from our panel of Speakers there will be a question and answer session and you will be afforded the opportunity to meet our guest speakers. Light refreshments will be served. Admission on the night is free.

Muintir na Tíre AGM

Nest Thursday, May 31st, sees Muintir na Tíre host its AGM in Murroe, Co. Limerick. Askamore Community Council and Askamore Community Alert are both under the auspices of this national body, and it is hoped that a number of people locally will travel for this AGM.

There is a very good line-up of speakers and topics:

Repossession of Family Homes by Ross Maguire of New Beginning

Suicide on the increase: Dan Neville TD

Rural Homes under seige from increased burglaries: Asst. Garda Commissioner

Funding for Rural Communities: Carmel Fox

John Lonergan will give the keynote address.

If you would like to attend the AGM, there is a bus being organised which will leave locally next Thursday for Limerick at approx. noon. Cost €10, refreshments will be provided at AGM.
