Winner of Askamore Community Council’s February draw for €100 is Patrick Tomkins jnr.
Congratulations
Recently a draw was made to pick the winner of the €1000 at the end of a two-year donation to the refurbishment fund.
This fundraising was to turn the 2nd squash court into meeting and activity rooms, to allow for talks, classes, meetings etc to take place in Askamore.
170 people and organisations locally helped in this long-term fundraiser, donating €240 over 2 years. The draw at the end was a means of thanking people for their support.
The winners of the €1000 are Liz and Mossie O’Rourke, Bolinrush.
Congratulations to them, and thanks to them and to all who donated to this fundraiser.Jim Gilbert, chairman of Askamore Refurbishment Committee presents the cheque for €1000 to Liz and Mossie O’Rourke in the newly refurbished Askamore Activity Centre
Congratulations to Mossie and Elizabeth O’Rourke who won €1000 in the draw for those who paid up to the refurbishment of the old squash court, now the new Activity Centre.
Thanks also to all those who support this fundraiser over the past 2 1/2 years.
The fundraising done for Askamore Activity Centre is finally finished, with people having committed to paying €240 over a 2-year period.
As a thank-you to those fully paid up, the promised €1000 will be drawn for tomorrow morning after 11am mass.
Weather permitting this will either take place outside the church or in the Activity Centre, immediately after 11am mass.
All are welcome to the draw.
Askamore Community Council ran a Grand Raffle over the past number of months as a fundraiser to pay off the remaining debt on the newly refurbished Activity Centre. Recently at a meeting of the Askamore Refurbishment Committee, it was decided to run a fundraiser to pay off the final debt on the newly refurbished Activity Centre. This final fundraiser will be a draw for a ride-on lawnmower, worth over €4000.
The focus for the ticket-selling for the ride-on lawnmower is being held outside the parish, as it was felt that it would not be fair to come back to the same people again, and tickets will be on sale at the Ploughing Championships in Heathpark, New Ross in September, and at various agricultural shows around Co. Wexford and further afield throughout the summer, although if local people wish to buy tickets for the draw, they will not be turned away!
When the refurbishment was first mooted, people in the Askamore area were asked to give €240 towards the cost of rebuilding the old squash court. This was a very successful venture, and over 170 people committed to paying this amount.
When the final payment is made in November 2012, everyone who has paid the full amount is eligible for the €1000 prize – so it’s still not too late to donate to a very good local cause.
Tickets will be €5 each, or 3 tickets for €10.
The outstanding debt on the refurbishment is approximately €20,000.
