R725 Road Safety Action Group

The  R 725 Road Safety Action Group which was recently formed to improve the state of the road between Carnew and Craanford has warmly welcomed the unanimous decision of the Gorey district area of Wexford County Council to prioritise the road for improvement. At a recent meeting, a vote of thanks was passed to all five Councillors and to Senator D’Arcy for their support.

The group also welcomes the decision by Wicklow County Council to grit the road when the conditions are treacherous. Great thanks are due to Councillor Pat Doran from Carnew for this breakthrough.

The group has met three times since the public meeting in Askamore before Christmas and is now going to lobby all Oireachtas members in Wexford and Wicklow to call on the Minister for Transport to make the necessary funds available to resurface the road.

The group is also having extensive consultations with the Gárdaí on policing the speed limit on the road.

The R725 action group consists of a committee of fourteen people led by chairman Jack Doyle, assisted by secretaries Michael Doyle and Karl Middleton.
