Hollywood comes to Askamore

On behalf of Askamore Community Council, we are so grateful for the support that we have had over the last 6 months putting together the Hollywood Comes to Askamore show.

We are delighted to announce that we made a grand total of €47,800 which will be split equally between Askamore Community Council & Ballyellis NS.

The total of €23,900 goes towards our upgrade of the Hall, the new offices & coffee dock and new “Askamore Heritage Trail” signage along our roads which will signpost the new heritage driving trail starting from the Community Centre.

To the actors & actresses of our 7 amazing films who gave their time so willingly, the extras who were roped in to dance, sing, mourn & celebrate, the backstage team who organised us all, who rehearsed, directed, filmed & edited, the people who provided our locations & props and of course, to everyone who came along to our fundraisers. Thank you.

To our cast sponsors, our advertisers, our Oscar sponsors & associates, none of this would have been possible without your help. Thank you.

And to everyone who bought a ticket, a raffle ticket or votes on the night. Your support was invaluable & we are so grateful.

Thanks for joining us on this exciting journey,

Helen Kearney

Chairperson

Askamore Heritage Trail

Did you spot Peter, Brian & Paddy out & about today putting up the poles for our new “Askamore Heritage Trail” signs?

Askamore Art Exhibition 2019

This year’s exhibition will once again be in November. The Preview evening will be on Thursday 14th, and from the 15th to the 18th the exhibition will be open to the public.
The prime aim remains the encouragement of the artists of Askamore, and this year we are opening the exhibition up to include artists from the wider community of Askamore.
If you are interested in exhibiting or simply want to find out more about this event ,please contact Alison Bayne on either 053 941 4543 or 0894 450 490.

Feile 2019

Askamore Community Council would like to wish all of the u14 Camogie girls, their coaches & mentors all of the very best of luck this weekend as they compete in the Feile in Cork.

Good luck to you all, have a great weekend and we know you’ll do your community & club proud! 🔴🔵

Another productive weekend…..

Thanks so much to Peter Cooper, Adam English, Sean Byrne & Paddy Byrne for tidying up the back of the hall over their bank holiday weekend.

So much of what we do requires help from members of the community and we’d be lost without them all.

Thanks to everyone involved currently and if you think you could help out doing something similar, please get in touch and join our 4 hour club where you can sign up to contribute 4 hours over the entire year to help keep Askamore beautiful.

Spring Clean 2019

This weekend, March 29/30/31st is our annual spring clean weekend here in Askamore where we ask all of our local residents to get out & to get involved in picking up any rubbish which might be littering our beautiful area.

National Spring Clean encourages people from all walks of life to take pride in their local environment and to take action against litter.  The National Spring Clean aims to promote personal responsibility for litter and heighten awareness of litter and waste issues.  By volunteering for the campaign you can take an active role in improving and maintaining your local environment, by making it a cleaner and more enjoyable place to live in.

We all have a responsibility for litter and participating in the National Spring Clean provides an opportunity to get involved with your local community and take action against all the litter that spoils our environment.

All members of the community council have black bags and some gloves are available from them. Please get in touch with whoever is in your locality.

Don’t forget, we love photographs here in Askamore so if you get out & about, please take a before and after photo and post it to our Facebook page using the hashtag #askamorespringclean

New Concrete

With thanks to an amenity grant received from Wexford County Council, yesterday new concrete was poured out the back of the hall which tidied up the back area and creates a new, safe, outdoor area for the marquee tent etc.

This could not have been done without the help of all the volunteers who gave up their time on numerous weekends to help prepare and complete this job.

Many Thanks to Peter Cooper, Adam English, Ger Blackbyrne, Sean Byrne, Padraig O Connor, Davy Donohoe, Paddy Byrne, Mick O Neill, Jason Kehoe, Seamus Kehoe, Stacy Gilbert & Ann Potignano.
